Authentic Rare Nautilus Shell - Natural

Rare, exquisite and nothing short of incredible!

The Nautilus’ most distinctive feature is it’s beautiful, uniquely patterned shell. It showcases a mesmerising pattern making them one of the ocean’s great wonders. The Chambered Nautilus is a protected species which can no longer be imported or exported.

The Chambered Nautilus is considered a 'living fossil' that has survived in our oceans for the last 500 million years, almost unchanged.

As a natural specimen, the shells will incur naturally occurring growth lines and will have acquired minor marks and imperfections during its lifetime, these are very much part of the individual character and charm of this very rare shell species.

The wonderfully shaped Nautilus is lined with mother-of-pearl while the exterior shell in its natural state has brown tiger like stripes decorating its surface. The shell is subdivided into chambers. If you have ever seen a cross-section of a Nautilus shell you will notice all the chambers that spiral around and around. These chambers have been created as the shell grows over many years.
